Marampa-ing up production

A strong second quarter saw production rise 26% from the last quarter at the Marampa iron ore project in Sierra Leone, 100% owned and operated by London Mining plc.The June quarter saw production hit 369,000 dry metric tonnes (397,000 wet metric tonnes). Sales of 326,000 dmt were made, a 36% increase on the previous quarter.Grades of 65.3% iron are being reached, delivering premium quality specification ore with low impurities.Daily production reached 4,358 wmt in the second quarter, up 26% from the previous reporting period (3,467 wmt per day).Marampa is currently in ramp-up stage with 1.5 mtpa to be reached for 2012, as concurrent expansion to reach 5 mtpa progresses on track with the second plant expected to be commissioned in the first quarter of 2013.A BFS is under way - to be completed this quarter, this year - to take Marampa up to 9 mtpa.
