Europe has the natural gas it needs to get through this winter but faces longer-term challenges from a future without Russian supplies, according to speakers at a gathering of the oil and gas industry’s leaders this week. Speaking at the Energy Intelligence Forum in London, Shell chief executive Ben van Beurden described Europe’s gas crisis as “the ground zero of the energy challenge” but expects the region to secure enough gas to enable it to muddle through. “By defnition, you will get through whatever it is you need to get through.
