Curtin University's largest-ever scholarship partnership will guarantee 60 students a place in the mining and resources industry. BHP Billiton Iron Ore has offered up $2.5 million for undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships for the next five years, some with a particular focus on encouraging females to study engineering. Curtin University deputy vice chancellor Jill Downie said the new partnership with BHP built on the success of the $5 million BHP Billiton Curtin University Alliance set up in 2006, which had already offered a suite of undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships for Curtin students.
