Endeavour Mining Ltd has further asserted itself as a key player in the West African gold space by hoovering up yet another junior producer in the region.Endeavour announced on August 8 that it had agreed to acquire TSX-listed Avion Gold Corporation in an all-scrip offer valued at $C389 million. The deal will immediately increase Endeavour's forecast gold production for 2012 by 50% to 282-304,000oz as Avion controls the Tabakoto gold mine in Mali which produced 91,200oz in 2011.Endeavour will also take control of Avion's Hounde project in Burkina Faso (893,000oz indicated resource, 712,000oz inferred resource) and the Kofi project (500,000oz indicated, 702,000oz inferred) 60km north of Tabakoto. In addition, Avion controls a further 1,800sq km of tenements in West Africa.
