Kenya's first modern mine - the Kwale mineral sands project - is well into construction.Driven by Perth company Base Resources Ltd, Kwale is being primed for first shipment of material in Q4 2013.Six contractors were awarded contracts to undertake work to build the technically diverse project.On the financing front, Base said it will need to access its $170 million debt facility in November this year, with the conditions reportedly close to being satisfied.The company is in the process of signing final off-take documentation with partners, waiting for the Permanent Secretary of Treasury with the Government of Kenya to sign security documents, and a final advertisement to be run in the Kenya Gazette in regards to tax concessions to be run.
