Despite talk of outright nationalisation and state participation having eased in the last 18 months, the spectre of resource nationalism still looms over Africa's mining industry. Instead of expropriation, the discussions now revolve around greater tax takes, local content requirements and downstream value-adding. Complicating the matter further is the raft of mining law and code reviews being undertaken throughout the continent.
