The platinum mining industry may be about to embark on radical restructuring after as a result of recent strike action that has cost the industry - so far - more than R2 billion in lost revenue. Faced with a total refusal to budge by the Association of Mine-workers and Construction Union (AMCU) which is demanding a doubling of wages, the platinum majors are taking a harder line and digging in for the long haul.
