A year of frustration for the new guard

If there was any evidence needed to prove the volatility in global equity markets in 2011, one need only look at the IPO sector for the year with floats pulled and those companies getting to market struggling to make an impact.2010 had closed with some optimism and momentum with 41 of the 70 new resources floats listing in the last three months of the year. Analysts were looking forward to an even more successful 2011 as the Australian resources sector put the GFC well and truly behind it and aimed to cash in on rising commodity prices, particularly in the gold, copper and coal sectors.
