Colombia and the DRC have emerged as AngloGold Ashanti Ltd's most exciting growth regions, highlighting the risk-inclined outlook of the South African miner.Speaking at Diggers & Dealers in Kalgoor-lie, AngloGold chief executive, Mark Cutifani said the two countries - both of which have spent decades on the geopolitical no-go list -could underpin AngloGold's future production thanks to their multi-million ounce potential and the company's early mover advantage.The company entered the DRC in 2010 through a JV with Randgold Resources Ltd which saw the two gold miners acquire Moto Goldmines Ltd and its 10 moz Kibali project (45% AngloGold). A feasibility study was completed on Kibali early this year and full production of 600,000 ozpa over the first 10 years is set to start from 2015.
