The ATZlive congress Powertrains and Energy Systems of Tomorrow 2023 clearly demonstrated that both the representatives of the European automotive industry and the energy producers are making considerable efforts within their isectors to meet the targets set by governments for electrified personal mobility. Vehicle industry and suppliers are continuously expanding their development capacity and their range of products with the ambitious target of offering between 50 and 100 of their new cars in Europe exclusively with battery electric powertrains after 2027. The emphasis is on platform solutions, increases in range, shorter charging times, new battery concepts, cost reductions, and improvements in comfort. According to customers, these are the main shortcomings of existing electric vehicles.
