Blackthorn Resources Ltd is undertaking "intensive due diligence to verify and constructively challenge" the results of JV partner Glencore Xstrata's review of the Perkoa base metals mine in Burkina Faso. Glencore Xstrata - 50.1% owner and project manager of the operation - completed its review in January, announcing it would suspend open pit operations due to lower than expected head grades, higher strip ratios and falling metal prices.
