Panoramic Resources Ltd managing director Peter Harold has backed his nickel division to keep operating costs down at the company's Savannah and Lanfranchi assets in Western Australia.Like it did in 2008 when nickel prices plummeted from $US20/lb to $US4.50/lb, the company underwent cost saving exercises this year to ensure it could sustain operations.It appears the company's strategy back then has paid dividends with record production of 19,800t nickel achieved in financial year 2012 at Savannah, in WAs Kimberley."When nickel got to $US20/lb we were punching the air but now there is a fair bit of work to do, and there is a lot of work on cost cutting (by other companies) and that's exactly what we are doing in our business," Harold said.
