MMS opens office in Johannesburg

HIGH-TECH mine management systems specialist Modular Mining Systems (MMS) has maintained its international expansion push with the opening of an office in Johannesburg, South Africa.The US-based company has 13 employees working from the Bryanston office.In a press statement, MMS said Richard Rice had been appointed general manager of its new African subsidiary. He brought a degree in mining geology and more than 20 years of experience in the mining industry to the job. Although he had worked primarily in Africa, Rice also spent time working in Australia, China and South America. In the past 14 years, he had focused on the information technology and consulting aspects of mining, and his most recent position was group general manager for the Petra Diamonds group in Johannesburg.
