The echoes of "Hannah, Hannah" fill the open quadrangle as the children from Plaster House sing out to Hannah; a familiar face, friend and their nurse who treats their wounds and showers them with unconditional love. The sounds are accompanied by the laughs of boys playing and giggle of girls braiding hair, I am met with big grins and little hands soon enclose around mine. I discovered many remarkable things during my short time at Plaster House, most extraordinary that an injury or a physical disability can be overcome by persistence and determination, and by hope. Despite their injuries the children I met laughed just the same, played just the same and were children all the same.
