TheWA developed an innovative concrete mix to address cratking due to excessive heat. The initial mix used a standard approach, but the quantity of cement led to significant heat and minor hair-line cracking. An optimised 75 mm aggregate mix and 60% SCM was therefore used, achieving 20 MPa compressive strength at 90 days and eliminating cracking to achieve the 100-year design life.
