BGC Contracting was looking at a $70,000 bill to overhaul the 15 tonne bit of kit when it called its existing crane service company in to evaluate its 10 yearly inspection milestone. The work was to involve the removal of the hoist from the bridge so that it could be stripped down, crack tested and overhauled, an exercise that could take about two and a half weeks.
