Kintyre sale and Encounter put pressure on uranium ban

July was an ausplcious month for uranium in Western Australia, with some landmark developments attracting the highest level of attention against the State Government anti-yellowcake mining stance seen in some time. Most dramatic was Rio Tinto plc's sale of the massive Kintyre deposit, in the Great Sandy Desert in WA's Eastern Pilbara region, to Canada's Cameco Corp and Japan's Mitsubishi Development Pty Ltd for $510 million.
