TWO offerings from motors and drives maker Bonfiglioli are boasting high levels of torque. The first, a new generation of large industrial drives feature torque densities of up to 72,000Nm. The HDP Parallel Shaft and HDO Bevel Helical units are the result of more than three years development. Also on offer are new planetary gearbox combinations with peak torque outputs of more than 1 million Nm. The multi-stage Transmital planetary gearboxes can be assembled in Australia following Bonfiglioli's investment of more than 16 million dollars in new design and production facilities and stock levels at its new Australian headquarters and through its New Zealand partner Motion Industries. Bonfiglioli national sales manager Steve Samson said the company could now specify and assemble five- and six-stage Transmital drives to individual applications. He said the design of those drives could be enhanced by Bonfiglioli's Mosaico online technology and its new Drives Service Centre.
