SALLY MALAY CHOOSES SANDVIK

SALLY Malay Mining has chosen Sandvik Mining and Construction Australia to supply its underground mining fleet at the new Sally Malay nickel-copper mine in Western Australia. The mine's 8 million dollars equipment fleet will include a Sandvik Axera D07-260 development jumbo, Toro 0010 and 1400 loaders, two Toro SOD haul trucks, a Solo 07 production drill and Sandvik-supplied Getman charge-up unit. Sally Malay operations director Mike Bohm said underground development would start in September, with decline development advancing to the first sloping level and ore production ramping up to full capacity as the existing openpit nears completion. Most underground ore will be produced using sub-level open sloping, with narrower eastern sections of the orebody to be extracted by up-hole bench sloping.
