PCF spells major gains for SA mines: Brandrill

ADOPTION of a true continuous stope mining system is a necessary and inevitable progression for South Africa's narrow vein gold and platinum mines, according to Australian contract mining and technology company Brandrill.The company, headquartered at Pinjarra in Western Australia, has won several significant mining contracts in South Africa in the past 12 months through its subsidiary Brandrill Torrex, and is supplying and using its unique penetrating cone fracture (PCF) non-explosive rock breaking products and technology in some of its work. Partnerships with Impala Platinum, AngloGold and President Steyn aim to develop continuous stope mining systems based on the use of PCF cartridges.
