Industry expert forecasts possible sills shortage

Review of geomechanics research in underground coal mines has found Australian projects to be good by international standards but warns of a looming shortage in technical professionals.Commissioned by the Australian Coal Association Research Program (ACARP), the scooping study of 52 projects completed since 1995, was carried out by Professor Ted Brown AC, a world-renowned rock mechanics expert. The objective was to review ACARP funded geomechanical research and highlight areas where future effort should be directed.
