Thickener lifts St Ives plant performance

ADVANCED thickener equipment has helped the large St Ives gold operation in Western Australia's Eastern Goldfields improve its plant operating performance. The Eimco E-Cat thickener was installed to boost the solids content of the tailings stream from a CIL plant, and recover process water needed to enable a planned heap leach plant to go ahead.St Ives project metallurgist Grant Harris said the thickener had increased the solids concentration of the tailings stream by about 7 percent. "Prior to the installation of the E-Cat there was no thickening of CIL plant tailings and we were pumping to the tailings dam at around 48 percent solids. With the new thickener we now obtain a solids content of 54-55 percent," he said.
