Guernsey Post is commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain with the release of six Alderney stamps. The 50p stamp depicts an Observer Corps member on the roof of a building with St Paul's Cathedral behind; the 68p subjects are the Spitfire and Hurricane; on the 70p stamp is a postman collecting mail from a postbox surrounded by bomb damage during the Blitz; He 111s being attacked by Hurricanes feature on the 85p stamp; the unmistakeable image on the 95p one shows the dome of St Paul's; and the subject matter is widened on the £1.02 stamp to show an Fw 190 attacking a Lancaster, reflecting the Avro bomber's place in the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. The three stamps featuring archive images are the pick of the bunch in visual terms; the others involve digital artworks of questionable quality.
