The Platts Gas Indices Americas West gas contract increasedabout 93 cents to an average of $3.6772/MMBtu for the weekended July 20, the biggest change among all the contracts andthe biggest for the West contract since February 2023.Moreover, the GIA Northeast gas contract was the onlyreduction for the current week despite varied demand figures inthe region.Average total Southwest gas demand jumped 1.67 Bcf, or21%, from the week ended July 13 to 9.64 Bcf/d for the weekended July 20, according to S&P Global Commodity Insights.Furthermore, average total Rockies demand rose 155 MMcf to1.95 Bcf/d, while average power demand in the Southwest added1.51 Bcf, or 37%, landing at 5.60 Bcf/d.
