The microstructure, phase composition, microhardness, and wear resistance of Al0.25CoCrFeNiSi0.6 high entropy alloy (HEA) are studied. The alloy consists of fcc + bcc solid solution phases with precipitated needle-shape Cr3Si intermetallics. The high microhardness 710 +/- 25 HV0.3 of the studied HEA can be correlated with the formation of Cr3Si. The alloy also displayed a high degree of wear resistance with wear rate of (3.1 +/- 0.5) x 10-5 (mm3 center dot N-1 center dot m-1).
