Tamil Nadu Government has now allocated substantial funds for modernising the Industrial cooperative tea factories (Indco) to help small growers fetch better prices for their green leaf."This is the first time that such a substantial allocation has been made by the Government of Tamil Nadu to modernise 16 Indco factories under Indcoserve, India's largest tea co-operative federation. This modernisation will usher in an era of transformation towards better quality of the manufactured tea which will ultimately benefit about 30,000 tea small growers who are members of these factories with better price for the green leaf they supply as raw material to these factories", Indcoserve's Chief Executive Officer Supriya Sahu told me.
