摘要

The "carla nord" of the Caritas in Florids-dorf is a treasure trove of bargains and specialities. The design.build studio of Vienna University of Technology redesigned the three halls in a way that allows the objects to make a real impact. The place is magical, and for those with a weakness for objects with plenty of patina and history it could prove addictive. In "carla nord" in Floridsdorf, which is run by the charity Caritas, objects that are no longer needed but are still useful are given a chance for a second life on a floor area of 4,000 m~2. Crockery, furniture, clothing, shoes, instruments, antiquities, electrical goods, toys, carpets, art, books, pictures - alongside rarities that are almost impossible to categorise. The profits from sales go to aid projects. Discounts are offered to people with low incomes - and in addition "carla nord" is a workplace for people who have difficulty in finding jobs.
