The European industry is heavily dependent on Russian energy supplies-and the consequence of this dependence have tragically been demonstrated every day since the start of Russia's war in Ukraine.Due to Finland not making payments for gas in roubles,Gazprom decided to turn off the country's gas tap on 21 May;Poland and Bulgaria had their supplies cut off in April.Since the end of the PIE survey,Gazprom has also turned off the taps to a Dutch trader and halted flows to some companies in Denmark and Germany.Governments of almost all European countries have been working overtime to find new suppliers for oil and gas,and to accelerate the development of alternative energy sources.
