Kaiser Aluminum posted higher profts in the frst quarter as the Russia-Ukraine confict boosted base metal and mill sales prices, counteracting higher transportation and alloying costs. The Tennessee-based rolled aluminium producer posted an $8mn proft in the frst quarter, up from a proft of $2mn in the fourth quarter of the prior year, even as transportation issues took a $6mn bite out of its bottom line and magnesium metal remained at historic highs.
