摘要

IN 1996, on his way from Malaysia to San Francisco, Glenn Allen came to Sydney for three days for a meeting with his fellow directors from Hargreaves Associates, the American landscape architecture firm that had been engaged to radically redesign thepublic domain at Homebush Bay.The three days turned into three productive years, both professionally and personally. Working with the team at the Olympic Coordination Authority, Mr Allen shepherded to completion the largest, most complex and time-critical urban design project undertaken in Australia. As is so often the case under intense working conditions, Mr Allen forged firm friendships with the landscape architects, architects, curators and artists he was working with in Australia. His contribution to urban design and landscape architecture alsoextended beyond Homebush Bay to the redesign of the concourse at Circular Quay and work as a visiting critic in the landscape architecture program at the University of NSW
