Borealis Plans Joint Project with Verbund To Produce Hydrogen for Linz Operations

Linz-Borealis and Verbund have begun a joint decarbonization project that will produce green hydrogen for use in the production of fertilizers,melamine and technical nitrogen at Borealis'operations in Linz,Austria.The project,taking place within the framework of the pan-European IPCEI(Important Projects of Common European Interest)process,involves the production of hydrogen at an industrial electrolysis plant using electricity from renewable sources and deionized water.The oxygen generated by water splitting during the electrolysis process will be used directly in production.
