Funds grant Stemtite development impetus

BLASTING accessories manufacturer Stemtite Australia is nearing commercial production of a safer and more affordable explosive loading system for small-to-medium-sized underground mines thanks to a 50,000 dollars grant from the Western Australian government.The grant has enabled Stemtite to proceed with the final stages of refining its system, which is based around an internally modified peristaltic pump. The company has spent the past 18 months developing a prototype unit, which has just finished successful trials at the Hill 55 gold mine in WA. With the grant money, Stemtite will look at modularizing the unit and reducing its size for mounting on mine site vehicles and work platforms. Further field tests and input from end-users will follow before a likely release in February.
