KOMATSU'S latest mining excavator, the PC1250-8, has been released to the Australian market A key feature is the four economy modes an operator can choose to suit the work at hand. With an operating weight of 107- 111 tonnes in backhoe configuration and 111t in shovel mode, the PC1250-8 is powered by a 502kW Komatsu SAA6D170E-5 diesel. It also has an electronically controlled variable speed fan drive to reduce fuel consumption and environmental noise. Combined with a large "hybrid fan" and low-noise muffler, the PC1250-8 conforms to the latest European noise standards.
