WHO has not wandered through an Australian garden at the end of a warm day to been assailed by the rich and heavy scent of a Brugmansia in bloom? As a child I would drag a kitchen chair down the back steps and outside, where teetering, I would pick the Brugmansia trumpets, which hung over the fence from the next-door garden.
