In 2021, the US House of Representatives endorsed a gradual withdrawal of the USAF's fleet of KC-10 Extenders, which are based between Travis Air Force Base (AFB) in California and McGuire AFB, New Jersey. The 2021 Defence Policy Bill prevents the retirement of more than 12 aircraft in Fiscal Year 2023, stating that there must be 24 aircraft in service during that year.
