Hampstead Heath incorporates one of the highest points in London with incredible views of the metropolis. For the first 10 or so years that I lived in Hampstead, I would drive all the way round the North Circular to Brent Reservoir whenever the urge to go birdwatching took hold. Then a fellow birder told me that the Heath was hardly watched, and was probably quite good. And he was right.
