Smelting Refining

Rio Tinto has downgraded its refined copper guidance to 135,000 t – 175,000 t, due to unexpected issues during planned smelter maintenance at Kennecott in Utah. The company have been working closely with customers to limit any disruptions and expect to have the smelter fully operational in two months. The operations were struck by a 5.7 magnitude earthquake in March.
