ADHERENCE to traditional design, with a large helping of modern landscaping technology, has seen the successful launch of the western forecourt of Melbourne's Royal Exhibition Building. In October 2009, Museum Victoria began the work to turn an unsightly car park into heritage gardens based on original 19th century designs. Considering the forecourt was asphalted in the 1950s to build a car park, the change today is nothing less than remarkable.
