SHELL is finalising the selection process of its major offshore contractors for the Crux gas development off north-west Australia, which will provide new gas volumes to the Prelude floating liquefied natural gas facility. The UK supermajor and its joint venture partner Seven Group Holdings took a final investment decision on the Crux project in May but did not disclose the project's capital cost or identities of the contractors. "This project forms an important part of Shell's integrated gas portfolio," Wael Sawan, Shell's director for integrated gas, renewables and energy solutions, said. "Natural gas from Crux will play a key role in helping Asian customers move from coal to gas as a cleaner-burning fuel.
