A strike at Vale's Sudbury mine in northern Ontario has continued since starting on 1 June. The United Steelworker's union (USW), representing more than 2,500 workers turned down Vale's revised contractual terms on 17 June 2021, arguing that the revised terms were still unfavourable. A virtual town hall held by Vale's COO pointed that Sudbury's operations held the highest cost position among their mining operations.
