AbstractFifteen polyamines have been prepared and shown to inhibit spore germination ofPenicillium expansumandNeurospora crassa in vitro, but notErysiphe graminis, Sphaerotheca fuligineaorPodosphaera leucotricha; no activity was shown againstS. fuligineaon marrow seedlings or P.leucotrichaon apple seedlings. Spermine homologues were considerably more active than spermidine homologues, but greatest activity was shown by the two naturally occurring compounds.
