Grade Ⅱ-listed Ashbourne Methodist Church in Derbyshire is recruiting an architect for a £6.4 million upgrade and extension. The team selected for the estimated £250,000 contract will carry out RIBA Stages 2-to-6 of the project, which will create a two-storey link building connecting the church to the nearby Century Hall and Waterside block and the Cornerstone cafe. Initial stages have already been drawn up. The project will also remodel the church to provide a community performance space, transform its two halls for flexible use, upgrade hostel accommodation and cafe facilities and create a community garden and mobility hub. Burgess Hill Town Council is seeking an architect to design a £5 million (max) performing arts centre. The team selected for the estimated £210,000 contract will review an existing planning consent and draw up revised cheaper proposals. The Beehive Community Centre project is planned as a multifunctional arts and community hub on the site of a former Royal British Legion building on Cyprus Road in the town centre.
