Apparently some young ignorant motorists have found a new way of saving a few quid atthe pumps. According to a story I read, in an attempt to beat the greedy fuel companies, who are reluctant to pass on the recent drop in wholesale prices to the public, a growing number are taking a leaf out of Formula 1 drivers' books, and slip-streaming behind trucks on the motorway. The fuel-saving tip, which is apparently doing the rounds on social media, encourages cars to drive just a few feet behind trucks to maximise their savings. The story pointed out that this is rather a dangerous practice. Sounds like a classic case of natural selection to me! In the meantime, if you see a few artics tailgating within a few feet of each other, then fear not, as it's probably just the government wasting millions of pounds of tax-payers' money on a platooning trial!
