Dental implants constitute one of the most dynamic areas in dentistry. After 30 years of development, reconstruction with dental implants is today in many cases considered the gold standard in replacing missing teeth, demonstrating great improvement in patient quality of life. Furthermore, implant related technical and biological complications are becoming an increasing problem. It is therefore imperative that the modern general dental practitioner has a thorough understanding of implant dentistry, and develops specific competencies within this field.
