Cutting dairy plant cleaning costs by up to 8%, saving dollars 250,000 in annual fuel bills for a fleet of dairy trucks and gaining up to dollars 10,000 a week by simplifying a procedures manual were some of the gains from introducing 'lean manufacturing'. Sandy Powell from the National Centre for Dairy Education Australia (NCDEA) shared a trainer's insights into running a leaner manufacturing business with the Victorian DIAA Conference in May.
