SKYFLY TECHNOLOGIES intends to begin test-flying the Axe, a personal two-seat electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft in mid-2023. The Axe, a hybrid engine-powered platform featuring a patent-pending four-winged design, will have a 100mph cruise speed and 200 miles range. Describing it as "truly revolutionary", Skyfly sees the aircraft as a direct competitor to any traditional fixed-wing two-seat aircraft or helicopter. Skyfly noted that the Axe will be "the only personal two-seat eVTOL you can fly with an existing fixed-wing pilot's licence". The company explained it is "not venturing down the onerous commercial certification route, which leads to a much more expensive end product with owners having to cover costly and lengthy maintenance schedules".
