IN a bid to capitalise on record gold prices, Reed Resources has started a resource expansion plan at its Comet Vale tenement in Western Australia. The area is a historic site with the Sand Queen and Gladsome mines producing 185,000 ounces of gold at 22.7 grams per tonne up until 1937. Reed had to dewater and refurbish the Sand Queen shaft in 2002 after it had been lying dormant for more than 60 years.
