Dairy Australia has released the latest edition of its annual round-up of the Australian dairy industry. The following are some edited highlights. The Australian dairy industry was hard hit by the drought during 2002/03 but, over the past 23 years, it has been a growth industry. Figures published by Dairy Australia in Australian Dairy Industry In Focus 2003 show that the Australian dairy herd has grown steadily since 1979/80 and the productivity of cows has increased dramatically over that time.
