Effect of girdling, fruit thinning and uniconazole spraying on fruiting of 'Manfalouty' pomegranate cultivar

To study the effect of girdling and hand fruit thinning as well as uniconazole spraying on yield and fruit quality of "Manfalouty" pomegranate. Thirty-trees, 26 years old were selected and arranged in a completed randomized design with three replicates. Ten treatments including girdling, fruit thinning, sprayed with 100, 200 ppm uniconazolc and water as control either singly or in combinations were carried out once at middle of June. The results of this investigation could be summarized as follow: Girdling and hand fruit thinning gave the best results regarding, the yield, fruit cracking and improved physical fruit properties. Whereas, uniconazole spray alone or in combination with girdling or hand fruit thinning reduced fruit cracking and improvedchemical properties in fruit juice. From this study it can be stated that carrying out girdling, hand fruit thinning and uniconazole spraying at 100 ppm at mid June was responsible for improving yield and fruit quality.
