Andrew Ferrier, CEO of New Zealand's Fonterra Co-Operative, answers some burning questions about the drought, globalisation, genetic modification and the future of dairy research. More than half of the milk we collect in Australia is sold domestically, through consumer products, ourfoodservice business or ingredient sales; the balance is exported. If the domestic milk supply diminishes, our percentage of domestic business will become higher at the expense of our export business. Simply put, we want to see an environment where the domestic industry is growing. We are always looking for opportunities for Fonterra to grow domestically, to introduce new products, to make acquisitions that help us grow in Australia.
